Leslie Walker Photography is back!

Hey friends! I am SO very excited to finally share my new website with everyone! I’ve been working on this behind the scenes for a year now and am so happy with the finished product. Thank you so much to our good friend Joey for making this space feel like the perfect representation of me and my love for this incredible job.

Atlanta Maternity, Newborn and Family Photographer

A little back story on why I’ve decided to go back to Leslie Walker Photography…

I am sorry to say that Dusty has gotten the boot 😉 If you’ve been following for a few years, you know that I started this business back in 2008 when we were living in Charleston. Then we moved to Nashville and when weddings started to ramp up, Dusty began shooting with me. We decided to change to Leslie & Dusty Photography and we spent a few years photographing beautiful weddings. We had the best time. We met so many amazing couples, made sure their memories were documented beautifully, danced during their receptions and tasted all the best wedding cakes. It was a very fun time for us! And then we started to grow our family and when Charlie was born life was just a little more complicated. It started to feel like our weekends weren’t ours anymore and we wanted to make sure we spent as much time with our kids as possible. Especially in these early years. So when we moved to Atlanta we decided to take a break from weddings and let me focus on newborns and families. Before we moved I said to Dusty ‘I think I want to focus more on babies and families’ And sometimes all it takes is speaking something outloud to get the ball rolling.

I have been so amazed at how quickly this business has grown since we moved to Atlanta. I’m right where I’m supposed to be and it’s an incredible feeling. Motherhood changed me in so many ways. And I’m so thankful because it also sparked a passion in me to capture beautiful pictures for other families. I get it now…I’m a busy mom of two wild little boys and these days are long. I’m making lunches, cleaning crayon off the walls and running a business. It’s a crazy life but I am so incredibly happy. I remember those first days of bringing home a newborn. Those days are hard but truly some of my best memories. And I understand the desire to have beautiful pictures to document this time in your lives. Even the messy, tantrum filled moments. I’m told all the time that I have incredible patience with babies and children. At least with other people’s kids I do 😉 And this job definitely requires patience and the ability to sing and dance like a fool in order to get little people to smile. I love this job and I am so honored that people allow me into their lives in this way.

This is going to be a fun adventure! Bring me all your babies 🙂 Thanks for allowing me to do what I love!

I am now booking into the summer for Newborns, Babies and Families. Make sure you follow me on Facebook and Instagram for more updates! And you might want to check my instagram a little later today for a really exciting giveaway! 😉

Here’s to 2018!

Hey everyone! It’s been a loooong time since I’ve posted. Yikes! We had quite a year last year– I know so many people feel the same way but we were honestly excited to say goodbye to 2017. Just seems like last year was a hard year for a lot of people. I was super busy with photography and SO very thankful about that… but on the personal side of our lives we were dealing with one hard thing after another. Sometimes adulting is just HARD isn’t it? We dealt with loss, hard changes in family relationships, house troubles and my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer right when I was gearing up for Fall Mini sessions. It was A LOT. And still is but I’m starting to dig out of the fog and am truly so excited for this new year. A fresh start is always nice. And while all of those things don’t just go away and get better, we learn to work through them and focus on what matters the most. To me, those things are my family, my friends and this business. It fills me with absolute happiness that I get to document these seasons of life for people.

Leslie Walker Photography is coming back!

Last year about this same time I started working on the process of re-branding this business and a new website. It’s been time to move back to Leslie Walker Photography for a while now (no offense to my amazing husband). When we moved here 2.5 years ago we made the decision to take a step back from photographing weddings….Dusty started working full time for an awesome company and I was really feeling to pull to just focus on newborns and families. We’ve really enjoyed this decision. Dusty has enough on his plate and even though he enjoyed shooting with me, he just needs a break on the weekends! And the main desire to step away from weddings came from our 2 boys…once we had them it just didn’t seem to make sense for us to both be gone all weekend shooting weddings. We loved every second of it but our time with our kids is something we’ll never get back.

The re-brand process has been another thorn in my side the past year — we were working with a company on my new site and unfortunately it just didn’t work out. I took a few months off from worrying about it so I could focus on my mom and now I’m gearing up again to get this new website launched. So please stay tuned! I’m so excited about this next step.

In the craziness of the year, I had to put the blog on the back of my to-do list just so I could focus on clients and delivering their beautiful images. With that said– I have SO much to share. I feel like I’ve been holding out on everyone– there are tons of pictures just waiting to be posted!

Hey friends! Just wait till you see this beautiful family 🙂 How precious are these girls?! I was so amazed at how well big sister did during pictures with her baby sister 🙂 I really enjoyed my time with this sweet family. They are so lucky to have two precious girls and it was an honor to document this time! I so remember when Davis was barely 3 and we brought Charlie home. It is such a whirlwind when you have 2 young kids in your house. Even more of a reason to make sure you get pictures done right when baby comes home– you think you’ll remember every moment and then you quickly realize it’s all a blur. A beautiful chaotic blur 🙂

Atlanta Maternity Photographer | Katherine

There is truly nothing more beautiful than a glowing, pregnant mama to be 🙂 I love getting to capture this time for our clients. I loved being pregnant. Don’t get me wrong– it was HARD but oh so worth it. You may not feel your best and feel like you don’t want your picture taken– but trust me, you’ll want to look back at your pregnancy. And your kids will love to see pictures of you one day when you were pregnant with them!

I loved meeting this sweet couple and getting to document this time for them. How beautiful is Katherine?!

Happy Monday everyone! How about we take a break from politics to focus on some sweet twin baby boys? 😉 I had the honor of documenting these adorable newborn twins a few months ago. I was so excited to meet little Elliot & Gavin for their newborn session. They were absolutely precious and slept pretty much the entire time. They were a dream to photograph. Thank you Andrea &  Patrick for allowing me to capture this time for you guys.

It was such a sweet moment to watch these parents hold their sweet babies in these master bedroom pictures– they kept talking about how they really hadn’t had a chance to hold them side by side like that and just stare at them. Such a moment that every parent knows is one you never want to forget. And those sweet, quiet moments are even more rare when you have an older child as well. It was so heart warming to just sit back and let them soak in those babies.

Atlanta Newborn Photographer | Miss Georgia Rose

Hi friends! We’ve had quite a baby boom around here and I am LOVING it! 🙂 And most of these sweet babies decided to make an early entrance. It’s been so much fun being a part of this exciting time for all these families and we can’t wait to share some of our favorites.

I did big sister, Charlotte’s newborn pictures 3 years ago when we lived in Nashville and then shortly after that Courtney & George moved back to Atlanta. It’s been fun to reconnect with them and be a part of this time in their lives as they just welcomed baby girl #3! They have 3 beautiful girls under the age of 3 and you guys… they are the sweetest. Courtney & George are such amazing parents– it can’t be easy having 3 kids that young but they are just so thankful and it shows.

Thank you to Courtney & George for allowing me into your gorgeous home to document this time!

A new chapter

Emotional, sentimental, sappy post alert….

Today we leave our first home. This little house has been so perfect for us and today we leave it behind and move our family to Roswell, GA. We bought this place 4 years ago and our lives have changed in ways we couldn’t have even dreamed of since that day we moved in. This is a day I never thought would come so soon…and I never imagined we would be moving to GA to buy my grandparents’ old home. When I say this I know all parents will understand… we brought our babies home to this house. Just that alone makes me so sad to leave this place. We built our family in this little house. It makes me sad to know that Davis and Charlie won’t even remember this place and it holds such incredible memories for Dusty and I.

And so we take this giant leap of faith despite the fear and the sadness that comes along with leaving this place and some of the people that mean the most to us.

Despite the unknown. Despite knowing that some people think we’re a little bit crazy. Despite the fear. Despite all those things…we take a giant leap of faith to Roswell, GA and we buy my grandparents’ house. It is sure to be a great adventure. 🙂 We can’t wait to build our new life there! Goodbye little house…

Big Announcement – We’re moving to Roswell, GA!

Hey friends! We have some major news- we’re moving to Roswell, GA! What?! Yes, we’ll be moving this business…again. Here is the story…

You know those crazy hard, life-altering, major decisions that cause you to lose sleep, shed tears and talk endlessly through the pros and cons?? Yeah, this was one of those decisions. One that we didn’t come to easily but something that we feel in our gut is the right decision for our family. Around memorial day we were talking with Leslie’s mom about how the family was about to sell our grandfather’s house in Roswell, GA. (Charlie is named after him). He passed away in November and my mom and aunts have been cleaning the house out for months getting it ready to sell. It wasn’t until they told us it was about to go on the market that the words flew out of my mouth…’I wish we could buy it.’

Wait. What?!

It seemed crazy in so many ways… but mostly crazy in a this is supposed to happen way. It was never our plan. It was never on our radar, yet, there we were in the car at 4am one morning driving there to walk through it and see it and see how we felt as we walked through it. It’s one thing to always love a neighborhood and house that’s meant so much to your family but another thing to actually walk through it and decide if it’s meant to be yours. A resounding yes. I can’t quite describe the feeling of standing in front of my grandparents old house and visualizing our boys running around in the front yard and them actually growing up in this house. I (Leslie) grew up in Alpharetta so it’s very exciting to think about coming back to my hometown. I can just hear my sweet Papa laughing right now– he thinks this is the greatest thing. And it’s such an honor to be able to carry on his traditions and legacy. The house needs some work and we’ve already gotten started with some major updates. It’s going to be so fun to make this place our own!

There’s obviously so much to this story and so many very hard conversations were had with our family and friends here. It’s been rough telling people we’re leaving. It felt like we were doing something wrong to our family and friends but in the end it was a decision we had to make for our little family of four. We’re so excited for this next adventure but we would be lying if we said we weren’t also scared. It’s hard leaving our friends and family here but we know all of those relationships will remain close and we’re not that far away! At the same time, we’ll be closer to some family & friends so that’s very exciting!

So, what does that mean for Leslie & Dusty Photography?

We’ll be moving our photography business again. And while that is a TON of work, we’re really excited for the challenge and for the chance to shift our focus a bit. We’ve been feeling in our hearts for a while that it was time for us to focus a little more on families and newborns and to really limit the number of weddings we’re taking on. Don’t get us wrong…we’ve loved shooting weddings and while we’ll still continue to do them, we’re going to try to grow our newborn and family business. With these two boys at home, it just makes more sense for us to focus on family and baby photography for the time being. We may pick up more weddings in a few years. So…if you live in the Atlanta area we’ll be in your neighborhood and can’t wait to take pictures of your family! Tell your friends!! We will be there just in time for family pictures in the Fall.

Of course, we’ll be back a bunch in September & October for some weddings and family sessions we have booked here in Nashville.

Thank you to all of the wonderful people we’ve worked with in Nashville! There have been so many kind vendors that welcomed us with open arms 4 years ago and referred us. We can’t thank you enough! The photography community here has been amazing and we hope it’s the same in GA. Thank you to all the incredible clients we’ve had the opportunity to serve here & thank you for trusting us to document your celebrations!

We’re closing on our house here on August 10th so we’ll be moving sometime around then. We’ll keep you all posted! We’ll leave you with a picture of our new home…
